A phrase in the Collect comes from Saint Augustine who says: “our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you” – in God.
The Old Testament reading from Amos is the first of four this year. Next Sunday and in September.
Psalm 82 is a Psalm of justice for all peoples, especially those taken advantage of – the down trodden and those who have no voice.
Today we hear about the plumb line, and prophesies for the King and Israel from a herdsman prophet.
To the Colossians the Apostle writes about “unceasing prayer.”
Pray without ceasing, and ask yourself – “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Don’t attempt to justify yourself before the Lord – if you do listen for the parable that will come your way!
