Introduction - Pentecost 2012

Intro to the Readings
Acts 2:1-21 Or Ezekiel 37:1-14 – Psalm 104:25-35, 37b
Romans 8:22-27 Or Acts 2:1-21 – John 15:26-27, 16:4b-15
The readings from Acts is the fulfilment of a prophesy and it also affirming of prophesy as the Holy Spirit is given.
From Ezekiel we listen as the Lord directs him to prophesy to “the breath” so that the Lord’s people may have hope.
Psalm 104 acclaims that the Lord provides for all creation. The birds that return in the spring and the fish of the sea.
Writing to the Romans the Apostle Paul speaks of our inward groans, our longing, for God’s Spirit.
From Saint John as the Lord Jesus speaks of the Spirit who is to come.

Let us listen to sacred words that speak to us of our God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The thankful miracle within us.

If we want to learn to “thank” aright we must “think” about the miracle that is happening to us. For thinking and thanking belong together. Both are worship and they cannot be separated. Both are an exercise which we must perform every day.

Introduction - Easter 6

Acts 10:44-48Psalm 98 – 1 John 5:1-6 – John 15:9-17
Intro to the Readings
This is Mother’s Day. When you are at home later today offer with the Church the Collect and be mindful of the fulness of the love you have been given.
As we listen to Acts today the Spirit comes before the preacher is finished.
The Psalm will invite us to “Sing to the Lord a new song.” Let there be a new song in your heart and voice.
From First John we listen and are reminded that the commandment of love is not burdensome. We are reminded that we are children of God.
When you hear the Gospel ask your self those same two questions you heard last week:
Do you love? Do you Abide?

If you love? If you abide? You are in Christ. Listen and live, live as Christ is within you.

Introduction - Easter 5

Acts 8:26-40Psalm 22:24-301 John 4:7-21John 15:1-8
Intro to the Readings
As we read from Acts we will hear that Philip began where a man was – and explained from where he was reading.
The psalmist reminds us that all – all – shall bow down and worship the Lord.
From First John we are reminded to love one another, and that God is love.
The Lord Jesus tells us he is vine – the Father is the vine-dresser – we are the branches.

Let us listen as Philip open the Scripture for us, as we are reminded to love – to love one another.
Let us listen as we become aware that we are grafted to the true vine. Let us bear fruit in love.
