Introduction - Proper 21 B - 2015-08-23 - Pent 13

Intro to the Readings
1 Kings 8:22-30, 41-43Psalm 84Eph 6:10-20John 6:56-69

Our reading from First Kings is part of King Solomon’s prayer with out stretched hands before the Altar of the Lord God, in the House of the Lord.
Psalm 84 is a Song of Zion, it echoes all that King Solomon offers in prayer in the House of the Lord.
We read from Ephesians about our spiritual warfare, how we are to dress ourselves for spiritual warfare, and how we are to pray in the Spirit.
In the Gospel we continue to hear the Lord Jesus speak about eating his flesh and drinking his blood – he speaks to us words that are both “spirit and life.”

The Disciples asked the Lord “to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
Let us – with the Disciples – listen and believe.
