Intro to the Readings
Today we remember and celebrate the Baptism of the Lord.
Our first reading is from Genesis – the first day of Creation
God said, “Let there be light.”
Psalm 29 reminds us of the glory that is due to the Lord, who is God Almighty, and that God’s voice is a powerful voice.
From Acts we listen as some who were baptized by John the Baptism are baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit.
Today is the Baptism of the Lord, the First Sunday after the Epiphany, the Gospel reading is the story of the Lord’s Baptism by John.
Let us listen to the powerful voice of the God of glory, and let us receive afresh the Holy Spirit.
