Isa 61:1-4, 8-11Canticle 181 Thess 5:16-24John 1:6-8, 19-28
Intro to the Readings

We listen first as the prophet Isaiah proclaims that one will come who will bring good news to the oppressed.
The canticle most of us know as the “Magnificat.” A cry for the hungry, the lowly, for God remembers to be merciful.
The Apostle to the Church encouraging them to “hold fast to what is good.”
As we listen to the Gospel we hear John the Baptist say “I am not,” I am not number one but two.

Let us listen and receive the Good News as proclaimed in the Son of God.

Introduction - Advent 2 - B - 20111204

Isa 40:1-11 – PS 85:1-2, 8-13 – 2 Pet 3:8-15a – Mark 1:1-8
Intro to the Readings
The Prophet Isaiah speaks of comfort for God’s people, and preparing the “way of the Lord.”
Psalm 85 proclaims that God’s salvation is drawing near – simply put – prepare a way for God in your life.
Saint Peter writes about our time and God’s time. He writes about the “coming of the day of God,” and encourages us to wait patiently.
From Saint Mark’s Gospel we listen as the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

Let us listen and prepare a way for our God and Saviour in our hearts and lives.
