Isa 61:1-4, 8-11 – Canticle 18 – 1 Thess 5:16-24 – John 1:6-8, 19-28
Intro to the Readings
We listen first as the prophet Isaiah proclaims that one will come who will bring good news to the oppressed.
The canticle most of us know as the “Magnificat.” A cry for the hungry, the lowly, for God remembers to be merciful.
The Apostle to the Church encouraging them to “hold fast to what is good.”
As we listen to the Gospel we hear John the Baptist say “I am not,” I am not number one but two.
Let us listen and receive the Good News as proclaimed in the Son of God.
