Introduction to the Readings - Lent 3 - 20110327

Ex 17:1-7 – PS 95 – Rom 5:1-11 – John 4:5-42
Intro to the Readings
From the Exodus we listen as the people quarrel and test the Lord God Almighty, and Moses strikes a rock.
Psalm 95 reminds of the Exodus – when our fore-bearers hardened their hearts – when they quarrelled and complained to Moses and God.
As the Apostle Paul writes to the Romans he speaks about sufferings, endurance and the character it may bring.
From Saint John’s Gospel we listen as the Lord sits at Jacob’s well and asks a Samaritan woman for water.
Listen and receive water of eternal life, a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.
