Introduction to the Readings - Advent 3

Isa 35:1-10 – PS 146:4-9 Or Canticle 18 – James 5:7-10 – Matt 11:2-11
Intro to the Readings

The Prophet Isaiah prophesies of a highway called the Holy Way – a highway for God’s people.
Psalm 146 is a simple hymn of trust.
The Canticle is the Song of Mary as she replies to her cousin Elizabeth.
James encourages patience as we await the coming of Christ.
Saint Matthew recalls for us the message John the Baptist sent to the Messiah: “Are you the one . . . or are we to wait . . . to wait for another?”

With patience let us wait for the One who is to come.
