Introduction to the Readings - Proper 23 / Sept 4 - 10

Jer 18:1-11 – Psa 139:1-5, 12-17 – Phlm 1-21 – Lk 14:25-33
Intro to the Readings
The Collect for today is one you might like to pray, and pray it in the singular – “Stir up, O Lord, the will of your faithful servant . . . .

To Jeremiah, to us, God speaks through the metaphor of clay – let God do something good in you.
With the Psalmist acknowledge that all God has created is wonderful – let God do something wonderful in you.
The Apostle Paul is thankful for the love of Philemon for all the saints – let us love one another.
From Saint Luke’s Gospel we will listen as the Lord Jesus challenges us to carry our cross and follow him – let us follow Jesus the Christ.
