Readings - Introduction - Easter 5

Love One Another — Easter_5C_20100502
Acts 11:1-18 - Psalm 148 - Revelation 21:1-6 - John 13:31-35

Intro to the Readings

The reading from Acts 11 is that of Peter reporting, and defending his actions, before circumcised believers. This is about the circumcised and the uncircumcised, and the Holy Spirit is in the midst of it all.

Psalm 148 is a hymn of praise to God the Creator. The Psalm expresses praise to God from all that is created. All creation joins in harmony, with the children of God, giving praise to the Creator.

From Revelation we will hear of “a new heaven and a new earth.” We hear about eternity where death is no more. The Alpha and Omega who gives the “water of life.”

The Lord commands us to baptism, to break bread together and share the cup of blessing. In the Gospel today is the most difficult commandment he give - “love one another . . . love one another.”

Let us listen – learning to love one another – so that others may
know that there are still Christians in the world.
