Readings - Introduction - Easter 4

Acts 9:36-43 - PS 23 - Revelation 7:9-17 - John 10:22-30

Today’s Collect is from Hebrews 13. It is often prayed at a burial as the benediction.

From Acts 9 we listen as Tabitha, who is also called Dorcas in Greek, is brought back to life by Peter as he prayed. Dorcas, like so many ladies than and now, volunteered he time and energy for the benefit of others.

The reading from Revelation is the third of six readings we will hear during this Easter season. And chapter seven is all about numbers. But verse 9 begins: “and there was a great multitude that no one could count .”

Every year on this Sunday we read from St John 10 and the Twenty-Third Psalm. It is “Good Shepherd Sunday.”
Jesus says “My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me.”

Let us listen – hear – and follow the Good Shepherd!
